Suzuki took a new path for 1996, aiming its distinctive 2-passenger X-90 squarely at younger buyers. Blending the attributes of a high-riding sport-utility vehicle with a sporty subcompact coupe, the X-90 was actually a convertible SUV. Suzuki began with the chassis and mechanical features of its 2-door Sidekick, tossing out the back seat and blending in new styling. It was offered in both 2WD and 4WD models.
The 4WD X-90 you see here came with Suzuki’s 1.6L engine and automatic transmission. The owner installed a 2-inch lift kit and 235/75R15 (28.9-inch) Malatesta Kobra tires on steel wheels. The front fenders were trimmed for more clearance.
Although the X-90 was a unique vehicle that was only offered from 1996-1998, the fact that it’s basically a Suzuki Sidekick means that you can lift it with a Suzuki Sidekick/TrackerĀ suspension lift or body lift.
Since the X-90 doesn’t have much lift, a custom snorkel helps make sure the engine doesn’t suck up any water while off-roading.
The front is protected by a custom tube bumper that features an offroad winch. The lightweight Suzuki X90 with it’s aggressive mud terrain tires looks to be a fun vehicle to take on a trail, and the winch should be able to get you out of any situation you find yourself stuck in.
The rock sliders are an unusual design, with the tube section on top of the box rather than on the outside, but they were made that way to keep the vehicle as narrow as possible while protecting it against tree trunks and rocks.
